History of Grama Panchayat

Triprangode is one of the most ancient villages in Malappuram district. It is believed that the place got its name from the Triprangode Siva Temple. This region served as the main headquarters of the Vettathu Kings. Later, Vettathunadu came under the control of the Zamorin. The caste system and untouchability practices were strongly prevalent in earlier times. Islam spread widely in this region through Arab traders. During the Malabar Rebellion, the people of Triprangode also took part in the struggles. Major social changes took place in the region only after the Indian independence movement. Agriculture was the main livelihood of the people.
